What the score is actually measuring
Readiness is not about how much you know about AI. Every question above is really asking one of four things: is there a repetitive job worth automating, can the system reach the information it needs, will someone own it after launch, and will you be able to tell whether it worked. Projects that stall almost always fail on the last two, not the first.
- A repetitive, frequent workflow — the thing being automated has to happen often enough to matter.
- Reachable information — if the data lives on paper or in someone's head, that gets fixed first.
- A named owner — a system nobody owns quietly degrades within months.
- A baseline — without a "before" number, nobody can honestly say afterwards whether it helped.
